Joined a Computer Hardware Review Team...

As I've mentioned occassionally here ... one of my favorite past times is investigating new types of cooling equipment for overclocked computers.

I also am rather fond of authoring detailed performance reviews of such gear.

Here's an example of one such hardware review I did at a popular computer forum:

A Recent Invite

So recently a certain acqauintence of mine invited me to officially join his hardware review team.

I accepted the offer as I certainly do love reviewing hardware.

What this means is that I will be authoring reviews for his website and even at times helping with the ongoing development and building of the website.

I of course will not broadcast the website here ... but suffice it to say, my role with this group will involve hands on work with this gentleman's server and FTP site.

This is why a blog and possible site posting (jbhfile.com) is now required.

Inherent Dangers to Such Online Partnerships

As discussed at this page over at jbhfile.com, the organizers of the investigation against me have on several occasions worked to wrongfully incriminate me around the illegal use of computers.

It is well known to them (the investigators) and the vast majority of my friends and family that I was the system administrator of a popular hacker BBS in the late 1980's and early 1990's.

Therefore, past incrimination attempts have mostly revolved around attempting to set me up in a way that makes me appear to be hacking websites (and especially meaningless sabotage or 'vandalism' of websites).

The best example, by far, was the attempt to force the appearance of my launching denial of service attacks from my workstation while employed with a certain design firm about six years ago.

It is a well documented case.

To this day I retain physical evidence in the way of log file data and personally recorded verbal conversations which clearly describe the event as it unfolded that day.

Had I not been tipped off by certain folks close to me at that job that persons were messing with my computer while I was away, I would have never anticipated the attempt and would have certainly been detained for the act that same day.

Anyway ...

Joining my online buds as a member of their review team is inherently a situation rife with opportunity for those who would wish to continue in such acts against my person.

Just the other day, my friend who owns and runs the review website emailed me the login information for the FTP server.

That transmission alone affords those with the means and resources all they need to eventually cause some similar contrived set of circumstances to unfold (similar to the very distant past hack set up, that is).

So therefore this article.

As with countless articles to date ... the point is to make the possibility of such future acts public so that should they ever actually occur ... it will look highly unlikely indeed that I myself would have had anything to do with them.

It's the basic principle of counter-intelligence work, really ...

Anyway.

Just a brief word.

I look forward to doing some reviews for these guys. A good bunch of folks. I met them at my favorite computer overclocking forum: www.overclock.net.
